May

Hello, everyone! It’s been quite a while since I’ve updated my poor tumblr account! I’m back!

Today is May 9th, 2010, and I thought to myself, why not update photos of lovely Ashly McClure? After all, it is her 19th birthday today! Happy Birthday, love!

Ashly is such an open-hearted and optimistic person! So, I thought I’d give my readers (all five of you! ha) a little background on my fabulous friend, and model for the afternoon of this photo shoot.

Ashly and I met in high school, technically, but never got to really know or be around each other until this semester in college. Immediately, you can see how gorgeous the girl is; she’s stunning. But when we sat down and started a little conversation about our favorite things, (books and life), I instantly felt a connection with a girl who is so much like myself and so, so, so humorous! Her subtle, quite, sarcastic remarks had me laughing the very first time we chatted together! It’s not every day you practically stumble upon someone in a college lounge and end up having so much in common. Ashly’s honest opinion on the world and people who make it is beautiful. She’s a smart, talented, and inspiring, girl. I’m sad that I didn’t really know her in high school. The overwhelming spirit inside of her radiates and then captivates you from within her sparkly blue eyes. So, I asked her if she wanted to go out and explore some of Tulare with me and my camera; she didn’t hesitate and with a Starbucks, off we went!

I’m glad that she (you and I, I know you’re reading) have become friends. I love our honest, blunt chats about everything and nothing all at the same time. Thanks for spending that day with me and thanks for not trying to be anything or anyone but who you really are. (I wish more people were like you!)

Love you, and the rest of you!,

My entire universe centers around this little angel. My Grace Bella.

Even if I knew every language in the world, I still wouldn’t be able to find the words that would best describe how much I love this child.

I love you, beautiful “Gracie Bella Fweitas”.

Kaylee and Cassandra Cardosa are friends of mine who happen to be twins. I met Kaylee in my high school Portuguese class. I was a senior and she was a junior. I had no idea who the shy, little blonde girl who sat next to me was; just that she must be smart to have been bumped up into a foreign language class with all seniors! Immediately, we began chatting away, so much so, that we’d often get into trouble from laughing during a lecture or possible cheating (she was better at the language than I was!) on tests! She’s such an easy going girl to get along with and her laugh is infectious. Later on, as our friendship progressed, I learned that Kaylee had a twin sister, Cassandra. Cassandra is the complete opposite of Kaylee! She’s outgoing, she’s full of spunk, and won’t hold her tongue to let you know what she thinks! She’s a total blast to be around.

When Kaylee called and asked me if I’d be willing to take their senior pictures, I was more than happy to do so. Not only would I be doing what I love, but I’d be catching up with friends I didn’t see too often because they were still in high school.

After about a… jeeze, 5 hour shoot? Three different outfits, six or seven different locations and props, we ended up with quite good photographs! If I do say so myself!

The three above are some of my favorites. I’ll be posting more of these two, so I’m glad you (readers) are now properly introduced.

Kay-lee-lee and Cass, thanks for putting up with my “okay, now do this’s” ALL day! You’re both real troopers!

Love you both,

Jennifer

For the past three or four days of this constant down-pour of a rainstorm we’ve had, I’ve been searching and searching for the rainbow that’s supposed to come after the rain. Today the sun decided to shine (hallelujah) for a whole 4.87 seconds as I was on the free-way heading home with Norah Jones. Singing and maybe rocking out a little, something caught my eye… it was this small, though pleasant, rainbow.
Hope you guys caught the sunshine!

One of the coolest things in dealing with digital photography is finding a photo that you’ve already fixed and realizing that you can make it look 3x better just by cropping it or changing the shade or tent.
One of the worst things in dealing with digital photography is realizing that if you’d just done it right the first time… Well, you get the picture. ;)
Since you’re here…
I’d like to encourage you to do what you can to help those suffering in Haiti. If you text the word “Haiti” to 90999 you’ll be donating $10. (Charges go onto your phone bill.) Every dime counts. Let’s do what we can to help!

These pictures were taken in May, 2009, after some hard-core convincing from me to my dear, dear friend, Tiffany. After I promised her that it would be fun she was totally game to laugh and explore some of our hometown. Jeffrey, my twin brother, was the most hesitant. He’s not one for taking pictures! But I really wanted to take a day and “just go” with the flow; no plans. We had a blast! Tiffany and Jeffrey were excellent helpers and did exactly what I asked/demanded. Above are four of many, many shots taken from that afternoon. My favorites.

Again, thank you Tiffany and Jeffrey for being models and putting up with my direction! Love you both, dearly.
